As time passes, the temperature falls and signs of spring fade. Every limb and branch is snow covered. The ground is white, visibility low. Snow on the second day in May is late for Missouri, even for the northern part where we live, near the Iowa border. At first, thick flakes fall but don’t accumulate, melting on the warm grass where red tulips contrast with spring green. I’m glad to be inside our warm, cozy house. Last year the drought put us 10 inches behind. Local farmers crop yields were low. Now we’re catching up.
